Tragic accident: Boy drowns in canal

BAHAWALPUR:

A nine-year-old boy drowned and died on Thursday. On hearing news of his passing away, his grandmother suffered a cardiac arrest.

A Rescue 1122 spokesman said Faizan, a resident of Chak Abbasia, was bathing a seepage drain with some other children in the area when he drowned. He said when the children saw him drowning, they ran to their homes. He said his family looked for him for three hours. He said villagers spotted his clothes and sandals a few kilometres away and found his body.  He said when the news of the drowning reached Safooran Mai, grandmother of the deceased, she suffered a heart arrest.

She was rushed to Bahawal Victoria Hospital Bahawalpur where she was declared dead on arrival.
