The meeting chaired by NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry decided to file a corruption reference against Director of Institute of Chemical Sciences at the University of Peshawar Imdad Ullah and others charging them of misusing their authority causing a loss of Rs.12, 499,876 to the national exchequer.
It also decided to authorise three inquiries.
The first inquiry authorised is against Balochistan’s ex-provincial minister for industries and commerce Abdul Ghafoor Lehri who has been accused of owning assets beyond his known sources of income worth Rs8,000 million.
Another inquiry is authorised against officials of the Sindh police. The accused in this case are blamed for embezzling from funds allocated for the procurement of amour vehicles, misappropriation in POL funds and procurement of CCTV cameras.
The third inquiry will be held against officers and officials of Workers Welfare Board and Revenue Department, Gadap Town, Karachi. The accused persons are accused of purchasing 66-25 acres of land in Deh Allah Phiai, allegedly forging the revenue records, subsequently causing a loss of Rs243.80 million to the national exchequer.
Furthermore, two investigations were also authorised. One of the investigations is to be held against Khyber-Pakhtunkwa’s ex-chief secretary Sahibzada Riaz Noor, C and W department’s ex-PD Sohail Bin Qayyum, and K-P’s ex-Secretary C&W Zahid Arif for misusing their authority and illegally reinstating Zahid Arif.
