At least 40 police personnel were dismissed Tuesday evening for acting negligently during the DI Khan jail break in 2013. The officials include an ASI, three head constables and 36 other officials.
Insiders familiar with the matter told The Express Tribune on Wednesday the decision was taken by DI Khan DPO Sadiq Hussain Baloch in accordance with the recommendations of an enquiry committee.
Speaking to journalists later in the day, Baloch said either the provincial government or IGP Nasir Durrani can take action against high-ranking officials.
On July 29, 2013, outlawed group TTP laid siege on Central Prison DI Khan. Insurgents helped 230 inmates escape. At least 12 people were killed during the assault. The PTI government constituted a committee to probe the incident.
