Cheating the public : Profiteers fined Rs3.6m

price checking teams conducted checking on 393 shops and arrested 19 people for profiteering

The district administration has fined profiteers Rs3.6 million for over-charging and not displaying rate list of food items. Price checking teams headed by magistrates conducted checking of 393 shops in rural and urban areas during the last three days and arrested 19 people for profiteering, said a press release issued on Monday. Teams also confiscated sub-standard food items and sent samples for analysis.
