RAWALPINDI: As the pre-monsoon season is approaching nearer, major nullahs in the Rawalpindi cantonment area could not be cleared by the local administration. According to the Met Department, the pre-monsoon rain is expected soon and the choked channels may cause blockage, raising the risk of flooding and submerging of low-lying residential areas. A citizen said that encroachments on nullahs have also created problems for the local administration to mobilize machinery to unblock the choked channels. Areas including Dhok Chaudrain, Rahimabad, People’s Colony, Tahli Mohairi, Harley Street, Tench Bhata could face flooding in case the nullahs passing through these localities were not cleared before the monsoon.
