National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has announced to establish a first-aid training centre in a bid to build capacity of its staff in meeting road emergencies.
NHMP Inspector General Muhammad Saleem Bhatti and former IGP and secretary interior Zafar Iqbal Rathore attended the conclusion of a first-aid training course for NHMP staff in Islamabad, said a press release.
Rathore, who was the chief guest, appreciated NHMP’s services and advised officials to continue their ‘good work’ in making Pakistan’s roads safe for travel. He said protection of life and property of the public was the prime responsibility of the police and hoped the training will help the motorways police in saving lives in case of road emergencies.
Bhatti said as the motorway police officials are the first responders to accident scenes, the training would go a long way in safely evacuating accident victims and saving lives.
He said a state-of-the-art first-aid training centre will be established soon where training would be imparted to NHMP staff, its allied organisations and private agencies.
A total of 23 officers and paramedical staff completed the training course.
