Over [Dis]honour: Woman shot dead

She was killed after being seen in the company of an unidentified man

SWAT: A woman was gunned down by her in-laws in Dadhara area of Kabal tehsil, Swat Thursday morning. A Shamozai police official said Adnan shot Sameela Bibi, the wife of Karamat Shah, dead after seeing her in the company of an unidentified man. She died on the spot while Adnan, related to her by marriage, managed to flee. The policeman said the case is an incident of honour killing. Further investigation is under way. A day earlier, a teenage girl was allegedly gunned down, also in the name of honour in Mansehra. According to police, the girl was standing at a bus terminal outside Bhutto Hotel when two people opened fire on her, killing her on the spot. The assailants managed to escape after committing the crime. The girl has been identified as Fozia Bibi, daughter of Attaullah, a resident of Diamer in Gilgit-Baltistan. She had eloped with her lover and reportedly gotten married in a court of law on Tuesday. The girl’s family had been searching for her and police believe the assailants were her relatives. Fozia’s body was shifted to a mortuary in King Abdullah Teaching Hospital but was not collected by her family until Wednesday evening.
