‘Official commitment’: Rangers raid SBCA, collect stash of data

Paramilitary Rangers personnel acquired a stash of data from the Sindh Building Control Authority (SCBA) and took photographs of documents there during a visit to the Civic Centre on Monday.



Their appearance sparked a wave of panic in the neighborhood. The paramilitary troops reached the SBCA office in three vehicles at around 3:10pm.


Sources in the SCBA told The Express Tribune that a few of them remained outside the building while the others entered the SBCA office and photographed various documents.


“Besides photographing documents, the Rangers also obtained data from the design section and Challan department through USBs along with other important files,” a source in the SBCA said.


Sources further reported that the Rangers officials also inquired about the former SBCA DG Manzur Qadir and asked the SBCA officials concerned not to leave the country or city.


Mumtaz Haider, director master plan is currently the acting in-charge since Qadir resigned about a month ago.


Qadir has allegedly disappeared since he resigned from the post and has reportedly gone abroad on long leave.
