Overload winds up UK tour

Band rocked at Manchester, Southbank and Yorkshire

KARACHI: Billed as Pakistan’s loudest rock band, Overload recently wrapped up their eight-day-long tour of the United Kingdom after successful performances at notable arenas, such as the Rock n’ Roll venue and The Roadhouse in Manchester. The band also performed a string of shows at the Southbank in London, the Farsley Festival and Yorkshire event titled ‘Trouble at Mill’, according to a press release.

Regarding their tour, frontman Farhad Humayun said that the band is enjoying its cult status. “An increasing number of people are beginning to understand what we’ve been doing these past 12 years,” he said.

“I’m glad so many people came to watch us play and went back with a great memory of a contemporary Pakistani band. They’re calling us an Organic Trance Band, which is a great description for our acoustic rhythm section,” added the drummer.

Having completed their tour, the band is already in talks for another series of shows in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow followed by a North American tour to the cities of New York, Washington DC and Los Angeles.

Overload is among the few bands in the Pakistani circuit both performing regularly and releasing new music. Earlier this year, the band released a single, titled Bolo Na, in memory of the victims of the APS Peshawar attacks. “In 2014, we lost a chunk of our future. This is for our parents, our children, for Peshawar, Tharparkar, Balochistan, and for all that we are silently enduring. This is Bolo Na,” said a statement on the band’s Facebook page.
