RAWALPINDI: The police on Thursday apprehended the fourth cop from Peshawar City who had been allegedly involved in the killing of two brothers in Rawalpindi last week.

Two brothers, Shakeel Butt and Zeeshan Butt, were allegedly shot dead by a police Muhafiz squad after they allegedly failed to stop their motorcycle at a check post on June 6. The two brothers were residents of Rawalpindi and worked at a meat shop.

The arrested cop, who is the main accused in the double-murder, was identified as Constable Muhammad Umair. The constable belongs from Gujar Khan, said a police official.

The police had already arrested ASI Ashraf, constables Zaheer and Zubair. The arrested policemen were also booked on the charges of killing the unarmed brothers.

The police also recovered a submachine gun that was used in the double-murder during the raid to arrest Umair. Further investigations are underway.
