KARACHI: The Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) has nominated Mohammad Sajjad and Hamza Akbar to participate in the Professional Snooker World Cup to be played from June 15 in Shanghai, China.

The PBSA was asked to nominate two players in the invitation and they selected Sajjad, the world number two in the amateur category and Hamza, the current Asian champion. The duo will depart on June 13 to participate in the $800,000 six-day competition, with the winner pocketing $200,000.

“All the top amateur and professional players will be participating in the Professional Snooker World Cup so it’s a good opportunity for Hamza and Sajjad,” PBSA President Alamgir Sheikh told The Express Tribune.

“They will get $7,000 even before they start playing, and the amount will increase according to their progress in the competition. However, it will not be easy by any means and they will have to play out of their skins.”
