Amount of Rs3.5 million will be given to HCBA, while DBA will receive Rs2.5 million.

Grant: Hoti announces Rs6 million for Abbottabad bars

ISLAMABAD: Chief Minister Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Amir Haider Khan Hoti on Tuesday announced a grant of Rs6million for the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) and District Bar Association (DBA) Abbottabad. He made this announcement during a meeting with a delegation of bars, headed by HCBA President Saeed Akhtar Khan and DBA President Tahir Faraz here at the K-P House. Out of this grant, an amount of Rs3.5 million will be given to HCBA, while DBA will receive Rs2.5 million.

The chief minister also assured that the provincial government will construct new chambers. He also donated a 10 marla plot for constructing HC bar chambers and 5 marla plot to district bar for constructing more chambers.

The chief minister lauded efforts of the lawyers’ community and said that they played a “remarkable role in the removal of an unconstitutional government and restoration of democratic institutions in the country”.

The presidents of both bars said that they wanted an independent judiciary besides strengthening of democratic institutions. APP
