PM Nawaz pens letter to thank Mugabe for bringing cricket back to Pakistan

Zimbabwe's role in bringing international cricket to Pakistan will never be forgotten, PM tells President Mugabe

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif wrote a letter to Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe on Thursday thanking the Zimbabwe Cricket Board for organising the series and visiting Pakistan.

Following the recent terrorist attacks in Karachi, the long sought return of international cricket seemed impossible again until Zimbabwe's Cricket took a step to overlook the risks and go ahead with the tour.

However, Zimbabwe Cricket chief Wilson Manase said in a statement to the press said “We have also experienced international isolation. But we won’t let that happen with our brother. You can’t kill the spirit of cricket."

The premier in his letter appreciated President Mugabe's decision to support international cricket in the host country, saying "The government and people of Pakistan are grateful to you for your leadership, vision and solidarity with Pakistan."

Further PM Nawaz informed President Mugabe of Pakistan's hopes to host more international matches in the country after a successful series with Zimbabwe.

Also after the 'Osama bin Laden' existence in Pak was unearthed, till today every Paki stammers to tell his nationality, that is the level of his embarrassment. That is why outside the country, a Paki national tries to dress and project himself an 'Indian' in order to win respect from the world community. Alternately an Indian is known from the way he talks intelligently and carries himself confidently. That is Brand Equity of an Indian in today's world. So you know the difference between 'Inferiority Complex and Superiority Complex'. Also we Indians don't lie and so you know our PM has risen from being a 'tea seller' to the PM position and see the respect he gets from all the top world leaders who are just waiting to receive him. India is seen as a 'World Power' today by the top leaders and want India's PM in all World forums. Has any of your leader reached that position yet in spite of living a great lifestyle.

VJ Ramesh | 9 years ago | Reply I think Pakistan needs to move on from this Cricket series win against weak team Zimbabwe than harping on it till today. Likewise then Bangla Desh also should be celebrating for their straight series win against Pakistan in T20 & ODI just before Zimbabwe. Imagine PM of Pakistan thanking Zim, President for allowing their team to travel to Pakistan. Naturally otherwise who invites Zim team to their countries. Also Pakistan should not expect flood gates will open and all other countries will line up to visit Pakistan. For everyone knows that the matches with Zim were played under highest security usually observed during US Presidents visit. Likewise all matches were played at one stadium only and also that one incident of 'human bomb' neutralized by the security forces 2km away from the stadium are there for all to see. In short the security concerns are still very much present in Pakistan. Also Dav Whatmore has played a leading part in getting the Zim Cricket Board's nod for this series because of his previous association with PCB.

Pak doesnt enjoy good relations with its neighbours India, Afghanistan or Iran. Pak foreign policies keeps on failing because no one trusts it, anywhere in the world. ET i know u have a strict moderation policy, hope it will get publish.

Pak economy/ budget is on IMF lifelines.. otherwise it had become bankrupt a long ago! Yup, we have a presence in antartica too, where our scientists do the research work along with others in the world ! :)

fact is fact | 9 years ago | Reply @NITS: @LOL: Senseless comments from both of you. @NITS: Zimbabwe is having far worst problems then pakistan is having with regards to life style, money, security and education. Zimbabwe is also a deprived nation in peace and development so relocation would not help Pakistan or Zimbabwe either. Pakistan cannot survive there in Africa as most of it is governed by white south africans who are rich people. at the end of the day Pakistan would have broken down. As far as relocating India is concerned, that would not help it either, at least, Pakistan do better things (whatever low they may be) in order to compete with India. If there is no competition, Pakistan will crumble further. The fact is whatever happens or has happened, Pakistan has still not filed bankruptcy whereas Zimbabwe is virtually bankrupt.
