12 militants killed in air strikes near Pak-Afghan border

Militant hideouts were also destroyed in the strikes, according to ISPR

KHYBER AGENCY: In precise air strikes Tuesday morning, 12 militants were killed in Khyber Agency, close to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, an Inter-Servies Public Relations (ISPR) statement revealed.

The deeply forested areas near the border are a key smuggling route between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and are dotted with Taliban bases, used as launch pads for attacks on Pakistani forces.

In air strikes conducted this morning, 12 terrorists were killed, while initial reports revealed that some militants hideouts were also destroyed.

Last month, air strikes killed at least 15 suspected militants in Shawal Valley a week after security forces moved in on Taliban strongholds there.

Similar air strikes and operations have continued in the area in efforts to eliminate terrorism from the country.

Faruq | 9 years ago | Reply @Ch. Allah Daad: It's counter insurgency warfare. It's not like a regular battle where the enemy is concentrated and fighting in a conventional manner. It'll take time to clear out the Taliban and secure the area and I hope they take all the time they need.
cautious | 9 years ago | Reply It's been a year and nobody has a clue about how much progress has been made in this campaign and whether the end is in sight. The occasional news provided by ISPR isn't much different than the info provided after a USA drone attack. This kind of information vacuum would be unacceptable in most countries - it's a war inside your own country and nobody seem to care ... what's up with that? Journalist should be allowed inside N Waziristan - journalist should also be embedded with the military during the campaign.
