KARACHI:

All Pakistan Motor Dealers Association (APMDA) has said that the recent reduction of advance tax on the registration and transfer of vehicles in the budget 2016 fell short of facilitating the industry.

In a letter written to the Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar, APMDA Chairman HM Shahzad said that since majority of vehicles buyers are non-filers, the situation is not going to improve.

“The rate was still very high, and thus this small revision will not motivate the buyers to register their vehicles,” Shahzad said.

He suggested the government to bring down the rate of tax of non-filers to the rate of income tax returns filers so that they can be motivated for vehicle registration.
