
The men have been accused of issuing Pakistani passports to Afghans, Bangladeshis and people of other nationalities in exchange for bribes worth around Rs40,000 to Rs45,000.
On Tuesday, the FIA produced the arrested accused, Deputy Director Rao Iftikhar, Data Entry Operator Qamar Kazmi, Naib Qasid Muhammad Ibrahim and agent Ahmed Hasan, before the JM.
According to the request for remand, FIA investigators first arrested Ahmed Hasan, a passport agent, who divulged the names of the other officials allegedly involved in the crime, which has been going on for several years.
The passport office in Saddar was raided and fake documents were found from the possession of the suspects. The JM remanded them to the physical custody of the FIA till December 15.
Pakistan Steel Mills
Meanwhile, in a separate case, the Federal Special Anti-Corruption Court headed by Judge Shaukat Ali Memon granted bail to Brig (retd) Abdul Qayyum, a former director administration and personnel of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM), against a surety of Rs0.5 million in a case of alleged embezzlement in the construction of a PSM canteen. The brigadier is facing four other cases of misappropriation and corruption worth billions of rupees.
