The premier will lead Pakistan’s delegation to the International Conference on the Implementation of the International Decade for Action “Water for Life” 2005-2015.
According to reports, Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi will be accompanying PM Nawaz on the official visit.

The conference, hosted by Tajikistan in pursuance of the UN General Assembly resolution, is expected to attract high-level participation from a large number of countries, as well as the UN Secretary General and representatives of other relevant international and regional bodies.
Further, it is set to review the status of implementations including water-related internationally agreed goals along with adopting a ‘Declaration’, suggesting measures to further enhance cooperation at all levels, for expeditious implementation of such goals to achieve socio-economic sustainable development.

Following the conference, PM Nawaz will have a tête-à-tête with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
During the delegation-level talks, a range of bilateral cooperation, including the energy, power and connectivity sectors will be discussed by the two sides, aiming to improve fraternal ties between the two countries.
Further, views on regional and international issues of mutual concern will also be exchanged by the dignitaries.
