15 passengers injured as bus overturns in Haripur

Rescue workers arrived at the scene and efforts to remove the injured commenced

HARIPUR: At least 15 people were injured Sunday morning as a passenger bus en route to Abbottobad from Swabi overturned near Haripur.

Five of the 15 injured are in critical condition, sources confirmed.

The passenger bus, carrying 18 passengers, overturned near an Afghan camp about a kilometre away from Haripur when a young boy riding a bicycle came in front of the bus.

In efforts to avoid the boy, the driver applied emergency brakes which caused the bus to overturn and crash into a tree, leaving 15 injured and five in critical condition.

Rescue workers arrived at the scene and efforts to remove the injured commenced. The driver Naeem Khan, Shahid Akbar, Nisar, Azia Hasan Bibi and Gul Jan Bibi were shifted to Ayub Medical Complex, Abbottabad in critical condition.

The remaining 10 passengers received minor injuries and were dismissed after receiving first aid treatment.
