Ahead of G-B Polls: Army deployed, Section 144 imposed
Indiscriminate action would be taken against violators of section 144
RAWALPINDI:
Army troops have been deployed in all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan for maintenance of peace and security during upcoming election. According to an ISPR issued on Saturday, troops have been requisitioned by Election Commission of Pakistan and civil administration. Meanwhile, the home department of Gilgit-Baltistan has imposed section 144 across the province in view of security situation for the general elections to be held on Monday. The section will remain in force till June 20. Public rallies, illegal use of loudspeakers, display of weapons and areal firing have been banned across the region. The home department instructed political parties and public that indiscriminate action would be taken against violators of section 144.
