Health facilities: Complete burn unit by June 15, says DCO

He said use of poor quality material in construction would not be tolerated

DCO Noorul Amin Mengal on Saturday said the burn unit at Faisalabad Allied Hospital should be completed by June 15.  He was reviewing the pace of construction of the building. Punjab Medical College Principal Alfreed Zafar, MS Rashid Maqbool and Buildings XEN Syed Husnain Shah were also present.


The DCO said the contractor would be blacklisted and his security would be forfeited if he failed to complete the project on time.

He said use of poor quality material in construction would not be tolerated.

He said contractors should be encouraged by the district administration and would be awarded more work if they completed the project on time.

He asked the contractor to complete installation of electricity and sanitary fittings, water supply and sewerage, X-rays rooms, doors and grills by June 15. He said the equipment supplied should be durable.

The DCO asked the focal person and Buildings Department engineers to monitor construction round-the-clock.

He said landscaping and greenbelts around the hospital should also be prioritised.

He said a new gate should be built at the hospital for the burn unit.

He asked the hospital administration to take over burn unit by June 15 and make it functional.

Medical Superintendent Rashid Maqbool said that the 55-bed unit would be be completed at a cost of Rs280 million. He said the emergency department, the dialysis section and plastic surgery department would also be upgraded.
