The nursing staff at the NICVD staged a protest against the replacement of the chief nursing superintendent

KARACHI: The nursing staff at the National Institute of Cardio Vascular Diseases (NICVD) staged a protest against the replacement of the chief nursing superintendent on Saturday. “The administration wanted to replace the superintendent, Ms Zulqarnain, with Dr Zia Panhwar,” said a staff member at NICVD, adding that Zulqarnain was offered a teaching position but the decision was reversed shortly after the protest started. “There were no interruptions in the routine functioning [of the health facility].” Meanwhile, NICVD director Dr Nadeem Qamar explained that the nursing staff prefer to have one of their union members to be their incharge and the administration does not have any issues with it hence the quick reversal [of the decision].”
