LAHORE: An additional district and sessions judge on Saturday sought comments from the Misri Shah SHO on a petition by a man seeking a case against his wife and father-in-law for allegedly getting a hysterectomy without his permission. He claimed that she had undergone the procedure out of fear of giving birth to a third daughter. Petitioner Humayun Chaudhry said that he had married Abida Naseem in 1995 and had two daughters with her. He said that they didn’t have children after that and only recently found out that she had undergone a hysterectomy in 2002 because she was afraid that she might give birth to another daughter. He said that her father Muhammad Aslam had abetted her in concealing the matter from him. He said that he had visited the police to file a complaint against his wife and father-in-law but the SHO did not register a case against them. He requested the court to direct the SHO to register a case against them.
