Apex Committee meeting: ‘Crackdown on financers, abettors of terrorists to begin soon’
Memon says they have identified 48 seminaries which were acting as extremist hatcheries, promises action against them

The Apex Committee of Sindh has decided to come down hard on the financers of terrorists and the sources they generate money from, said Information Minister, Sindh Sharjeel Inam Memon at the conclusion of a crucial meeting here.
Speaking to media after the high-level huddle at Chief Minister’s House, Memon said, “Today, it has been decided that action will be taken against the financers of terrorists, land grabbers, suspects involved in collecting ‘fitra’ for vested purposes and extortion because this money is used in terrorism-related activities.”
The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, was attended by Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, Corps Commander Karachi, Lieutenant General Naved Mukhtar, Director General Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar, chief and home secretaries and Inspector General (IG) police.

In addition to action against banned outfits, Memon said a crackdown will also begin on ‘hawala’ system - an illegal money transfer system.
The information minister revealed that as many as 48 seminaries had been identified as hatcheries for extremist elements, promising that action against them will be taken soon.
“The chief minister assured the participants to expedite action on the decisions taken and directed home secretary and IG police to apprise of the progress in the next meeting of the body”.

Further, the apex committee has decided to seal those petrol pumps and register an FIR against their owners who were found to be buying smuggled fuel.
