FAISALABAD: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Mian Muhammad Adrees has welcomed the inking of 15 agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between Pakistan and Belarus.

“These are in the best interest of the two countries,” he said. “At present, the trade volume between the two sides is only $60 million, which is far less than the potential.”

He hoped that the agreements would play an instrumental role in enhancing bilateral relations in trade, industry, agriculture, investment, culture, education and people-to-people contact.

Chambers need to play their role

He underlined the need for developing direct relations between business communities of the two countries and said in this connection the chambers of commerce of both sides would have to play a pro-active role.

Adrees said the president of Belarus had invited Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to visit his country and hoped a trade delegation would also accompany the premier to explore business opportunities in Minsk.

He was of the view that the visit of the Belarusian president had opened new avenues for the promotion of bilateral relations.

Capturing international markets

Adrees was also sanguine about the government’s efforts to capture the international market and said in that regard, the business community would fully cooperate with the government.
