Water crisis: Plans under way to install desalination plant

Sharjeel Memon hopes water shortage in other cities will also be overcome with this arrangement

The authorities of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) have been directed by the local government minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon, to begin arrangements for the installation of a desalination plant to convert seawater into drinkable water to overcome the shortage.


The minister offered to fulfill the requirements of DHA and Clifton with the new plant. Memon hoped that the water shortage in other cities will also be overcome with this arrangement.


The minister also spokeabout the short and long term planning of the provincial government to overcome the water crisis.  KWSB managing director Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi said that the rate of the potable water will be less than the price the residents of DHA and Clifton had been paying earlier.
