Crime roundup: 94 terrorism cases reported in first five months of 2015

Police report sheds light on murder, robbery cases in Peshawar district.

PESHAWAR: At least 94 incidents of terrorism have been reported in Peshawar district in the first five months of 2015, stated a police report.

According to the report available with The Express Tribune, five police officials and an officer of the armed forces lost their lives in these attacks, while seven others were injured. Moreover, 31 civilians have been killed in these acts of terror.

Deaths and injuries

Over the last five months, a large number of murder and assault cases have also been reported in the district.



The report stated 172 people have been murdered, while 397 were wounded during this period. Many people have also died in road accidents in the district. As per the report, 141 people were killed in 63 road accidents and 413 injured.

At least 24 people have been kidnapped for ransom from the provincial capital and two children have been abducted.

Robbers on a rampage

The police report added 82 cases of theft, seven cases of armed robbery, 19 cases of highway robbery and 38 cases of burglary have been reported in the first five months of 2015. During this period, vehicle theft continued to be a recurring problem.

According to the report, 36 cases of car lifting, seven cases of car snatching, 12 motorcycle snatching cases and 35 cases of motorcycle theft have been reported.

In custody

During the first five months of 2015, police arrested 2,244 armed men and 6,123 miscreants. Similarly, 3,276 people were arrested during this time in narcotics cases and FIRs were registered against them.
