AJK judicial crisis continues

Express April 25, 2010

ISLAMABAD:

Political and judicial crises continued to plague Azad Jammu Kashmir's government, as a possibility of withdrawing a reference against Justice Riaz Akhtar Chaudhry got ruled out.

A 7 member governmental committee presided by AJK Law Minister Abdul Rasheed Abbassi presented its recommendations.

The committee claimed that accusations against Justice Riaz Chaudhry are valid.

It has recommended the appointment of Justice Syed Manzoor Hussain Gilani as chief justice.

The committee argued that the government has sent a reference to the Supreme Judicial Council and it cannot be withdrawn.

If the reference is taken back, the prime minister, law minister and other officials may get dismissed from their positions.

rashid | 13 years ago | Reply I believe PM Pakistan should abide the law and implement the recommendations sent by Supreme Judicial Council AJK. Whatever I have read about this case, I think the deposed CJ was a corrupt person as he had a monitoring cell in which he took money for personal interest and he had done many other wrong things. I believe he should be removed from this judicial system as early as possible.
