KARACHI: Na Maloom Afraad actress Urwa Hocane, says she would "love to do meaty characters in Bollywood, otherwise she is happy here in Pakistan.”

Asserting this fact the actress added, “I am getting a couple of offers from Bollywood but I just don’t want to cross the border for the sake of it.”

According to the Pakistani actress, she declined to play the lead role in Ekta Kapoor's latest production Azhar because of the bold scenes.  “I don’t want to do bold scenes, but that was not the only reason, I was also busy working on a local production Jhol," said Urwa.

The film which is based on former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin will see Emraan Hashmi as the lead male.

She further added, "My commitment was elsewhere and also I didn’t place my efforts at the same level to play a leading female role in Azhar."

Azhar, she insists, was offered to her two months back, but her character in Jhol was a role more suited to her which is also one of the reasons why she decided to decline the Bollywood film.

In regards to future film offers from Bollywood, the aspiring young actress replied,  “Yes, there are. But for now things are under wraps, I can’t disclose it, for it is in the initial stages.”

For now it seems Urwa is geared more towards local films. Rumour has it the VJ-turned-actress replaced Iman Ali in an upcoming film and will be seen alongside Ali Azmat and Bilal Ashraf. So far the film is being kept under wraps and will hit theatres next year.

I'm a female film production post-graduate student who loves watching movies from around the world and is required to do so as a part of my study. I am a huge fan of Meryl Streep -- I think her personality has great depth and phenomenal acting skills. You don't require a drop dead gorgeous face for TV or films. In fact, most of the fine actors in Hollywood are average looking. But your face alone needs a lot of depth, should express authentic emotion and should be able to carry the character playing which I believe this girl fails to do so. Being a part of a film is a huge deal. Not every VJ can be a good actor and Pakistani film and TV industry needs to realise that.
