Commissioner's directives: ‘Maintain chlorination in pools’

KARACHI: Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui directed deputy commissioners to close down all the swimming pools in the city that have not been chlorinated according to the safe standard. "Chlorination will be checked in swimming pools in the city to ensure that it is according to the required standard," he said, while addressing a meeting at his office to review measures against dengue and naegleria fowleri. The commissioner showed dissatisfaction over the measures taken to stop naegleria, situation of chlorination of water and arrangements for anti-dengue sprays by the local government departments ahead of expected rains. Two separate committees were formed in the meeting comprising officers from the relevant organisations to stop the breeding of naegleria and dengue. The committees will immediately take steps and report to the commissioner within a day.
