PESHAWAR: In a major move against corrupt officials, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Ehtesab Commission arrested on Thursday former provincial excise and taxation minister Liaquat Shabab in a case related to alleged illegal assets.

The commission raided the house of Shabab in Nowshera a few days ago but did not arrest him. On May 20, a Peshawar High Court bench comprising Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel and Justice Irshad Qaiser allowed the commission to continue its enquiry against Shabab.

Shabab was the provincial excise and taxation minister during the tenure of Awami National Party and Pakistan Peoples Party in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
