The commission raided the house of Shabab in Nowshera a few days ago but did not arrest him. On May 20, a Peshawar High Court bench comprising Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel and Justice Irshad Qaiser allowed the commission to continue its enquiry against Shabab.
Shabab was the provincial excise and taxation minister during the tenure of Awami National Party and Pakistan Peoples Party in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Later the former minister approached the Peshawar High Court against the inquiry of commission terming it illegal.
Further, the commission arrested the former minsiter’s brother, Safdar Shabab, and driver Muhammad Khan who were later released.
After his recent defeat in Cantonmentt elections, Liaquat Shabab resigned from the post of PPP provincial information secretary on April 29 but decided to remain in the party.
