Alleged terror links: Legal action sought against 18 poll candidates
Records of 18 candidates found to be tabulated, while some have links with TTP and TNSM

A Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa unit of the counter terrorism department (CTD) on Tuesday asked the civil administration to take legal action against 18 local body poll candidates from Swat for their alleged connection with outlawed outfits.
The letter states that after checking the computer records of candidates of Schedule Four, the records of 18 candidates were found to be “tabulated”. Five candidates each of Charbagh & Khwazakhela, two each of Ghalaygay & Malam Jabba, while one each from Saidu Sharif, Mingora, Madyan and Rahimabad have connections with two banned outfits, the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) and the Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Sharia Muhammadi (TNSM) with cases registered against them in the respective police stations.

A letter sent on 22 March, 2015 from the DIG of CTD and marked “urgent” is addressed to the deputy commissioner, all returning officers, deputy election commissioner Swat, and all SDPOs/DSP headquarters election cell, Swat.
