RAWALPINDI:

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday issued notices to the heads of a top law enforcement agency as well as an intelligence agency to contact the US government and record Mark Siegel’s statement in the Benazir Bhutto assassination case.

The court ordered the directors-general of the FIA and Intelligence Bureau (IB) to ask the US Embassy to inform the journalist and author about the recording of his statement.

The court also inquired about the arrangements made at the Rawalpindi commissioner’s office for recording Siegel’s statement through video link.

The commissioner informed the court through a letter that they had made arrangements at the office by installing a modern system for recording the statement.

The letter said the court can record the statement at his office. The court expressed willingness to do so and adjourned the case till June 1.
