After a delay and struggle in collecting authentic data, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) is all set to launch the second nationwide university rankings on Monday (today).
The HEC 2013-14 Ranking will be formally launched at its headquarters at noon where its chairperson Dr Mukhtar Ahmed will be the chief guest.
The first such ranking was released in July 2013 for the year 2012 which was the first ever release of varsity positions by HEC. After that release, HEC was accused of giving preferential position to some universities and leaving a few far behind.
The ranking criterion is based on several factors including adherence to quality assurance in the appointment of faculty, student intake, and quality of MS, MPhil and PhD programmes.
Besides, the HEC for the last year has been struggling to collect authentic data.
