Police surrounded Mirza’s residence in Karachi's Defence neighbourhood and took his driver, Nail Ahmed, and guard, Sikandar, into custody. Further, police seized his guard's weapon as it was reportedly illegal. The police, however, did not enter the former home minister's house.
The move came on the directives of newly sworn-in Sindh home minister Sohail Anwar Sial.

Four police vans reached Mirza's house this afternoon and left after taking the driver and guard into custody.
Earlier, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) extended Mirza's bail until May 30 in three cases of rioting, looting, attempted murder and attacking police officials that were registered against them earlier this month at a police station in Badin.

The cases were registered against PPP's estranged leader after he and his supporters allegedly attacked a police station, as well as shops of some PPP supporters in Badin.
Police then arrested three persons nominated in the FIR but did not raid Mirza’s farmhouse, located 10 kilometres away from Badin city.
