Attack injures seven; vehicle of security forces targeted

QUETTA:
At least one person was killed and seven others including four Frontier Corps personnel injured on Friday in a remote-controlled blast near Qambrani road, Express News reported.

According to sources, a vehicle of security forces patrolling the area was targeted in the attack. Explosives were recovered from the roadside and gun shots were heard soon after the blast.

Station House Officer Kechi Baig Ghulam Nabi told The Express Tribune that an improvised device - planted in a rickshaw - went off when the vehicle passed by.

“At least four passersby and four security personnel were injured in blast,” Nabi said.


One of the passersby succumbed to his injuries while being to taken to the Civil Hospital.

Around five Rickshaws were also damaged in the explosion.

Police and rescue teams arrived at the site after which the area was cordoned off. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack and further investigation is under way.

On May 22, two men were also killed and three others injured in DI Khan when the rooms of a hotel caught fire after an explosion.

An official of Saddar police station told The Express Tribune the incident occurred in Sufi Siraj Hotel on Bypass Road. According to initial investigation, some people were filling petrol in a large container when one of them lit a cigarette which resulted in an explosion.
