KARACHI: Pakistan crashed out of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) 2016 U23 Championship qualifiers as they lost to Kuwait 2-0 at the Al-Qattara Stadium in Al-Ain, UAE on Monday.

Kuwait took the lead in the opening minutes of the match and doubled the lead within 15 minutes to earn three points on the table.

Pakistan lost their second match in the tournament; earlier, Group B’s top team Jordan thrashed the national side 5-0 in the opening fixture.

The men in green were required to finish among the top two teams (out of four) in the group in order to book their place in the main round of 16 teams from the continent.

So far, last edition’s bronze-medallists Jordan have three points after playing one match, while Kuwait and Kyrgyzstan drew in a goalless match earlier.

The men in green will play their last fixture against Kyrgyzstan on May 20.
