PESHAWAR: Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan on Monday issued orders to shift the cadet college from Nowshera to Razmak in North Waziristan. Razmak Cadet College was shifted, temporarily, over security reasons in 2009.

“After military operations in the agency, law and order has improved considerably,” said the governor. “It is now time to start restoring the damaged building of the college.” He made this statement during a meeting to discuss the future of the college. Brigadier Inam Haider, Brigadier Ziauddin Ahmad, Colonel Atif and the Razmak cadet college principal also participated, according to the handout issued on Monday.

A detailed briefing was given to the governor about the move. In June 2009, due to security reasons, the college was shifted from North Waziristan to Peshawar and later to Nowshera on a temporary basis.

Mehtab said internal stability, harmony and peace were prevalent in Fata and such an atmosphere was a prerequisite to improve the state of education in the region. “The college will provide an academic platform for students in Fata and can prove crucial in ensuring national integration and harmony is maintained,” he said.

Mehtab emphasised all procedures of shifting the cadet college should be completed in such a way that the academic year of students is not wasted. He urged officials of the FATA Secretariat to release funds to kickstart reconstruction of the damaged building and completion of projects.

“The cadet college at Razmak should be expanded and new buildings for hostels should be constructed,” he ordered.
