Counselling in Pakistan

Letter May 19, 2015
The government should promote counselling for the mental health and wellbeing of all citizens

KARACHI: Many people will, at some point in their lives, find themselves in a situation where they need counselling. In Pakistan, without having a true understanding about the role of a counsellor, many feel hesitant about reaching out to one. Counselling is professional guidance to help resolve personal, social, or psychological problems.

There are only a few organisations in Pakistan that provide counselling, which could play a vital role in improving citizens’ lives in the current state of chaos that we live in. The government should promote counselling for the mental health and wellbeing of all citizens.
