ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Nasir ul Mulk has rejected the proposal to extend the appointment of Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) Director General (DG) Dr Faqir Hussain for another year. Dr Faqir Hussain’s one year contract expired on Thursday.

Sources revealed to The Express Tribune that the file requesting a year’s extension to the DG’s tenure was passed on to the chairman of the FJA board of directors, Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk, who declined it. Dr Faqir was close to ex-chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry; therefore, he received two extensions as Supreme Court’s registrar. Faqir retired as SC Registrar on March 22, 2014.

Later on, he was appointed as DG FJA, which is a grade 22 post and was receiving a salary of Rs375, 000 per month along with additional perks and privileges.

The sources in academy revealed that the employees were extremely jubilant over the chief justice’s decision not to extend the service of Dr Faqir as they were not comfortable with his behavior. Fakhar Hayat will take charge as acting DG FJA today (Friday).
