QUETTA:

Ten suspected militants were killed and three security officials injured on Thursday during search operations conducted in the Mastung, Kalat and Panjgur areas of Balochistan. Two men allegedly associated with the Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) were rounded up from the Ormara area of Gwadar.

Another nine people were gunned down in separate parts of the province, while three others – the Ormara union council chairman, a health official and a Balochistan Levies official – were kidnapped.

Search operations

Eight militants were killed and three security officials injured during search
operations conducted in Mastung and Kalat, said the spokesman for the Frontier Corps.

Khan Wassy said in a statement that a search operation was carried out in the Isplinji area of Mastung and in the Bhoi and Johan areas of Kalat.

“We destroyed the camps and an explosives-laden vehicle of the militants in Johan, Bhoi and Isplinji. Around 400 FC personnel took part in the operation.”

Wassy said 12 sub-machine guns (SMGs), 20 hand grenades and 25 kilograms of explosive materials were seized from the suspects during the raid.

“The detainees were involved in torching the Saindak project’s oil tankers and in attacks on the security forces in Naushki.”

In another raid, two militants were killed in the Tusp area of Panjgur, said the spokesman. “We killed two militants and seized weapons from them.”

Two ‘BLF’ men arrested

The FC arrested two men believed to be associated with the BLF from Ormara. “We seized a flag of the BLF from them, as well as two SMGs with 12 magazines and two hand-grenades.”

FC Balochistan Inspector General Maj-Gen Sher Afgan praised the operations. “The FC would continue their efforts until militancy is eliminated from the province.”

Three kidnapped

The Ormara union council chairman, a health official and a Balochistan Levies official were kidnapped from the Saeedabad area of Ormara.

Assistant Commissioner Mansoor Gichki said UC Chairman Sayed Naseer Jan, health department compounder Rasheed Baloch and Balochistan Levies official Hamid Baloch were travelling together when they were abducted.

Nine gunned down

Three people – two brothers and a woman – were killed in a shooting incident in the Manju Shuri area of Naseerabad. SHO Haji Khan said they were killed on suspicion of having illicit relations.

In a firing incident in Killa Saifullah, two persons were killed and four others injured. Sources said men from the Jalalzai tribe had opened fire on one other over a land dispute.

The bodies of two men with gunshot wounds were found in the Tusp area of Panjgur. Police official Mohammad Ali said no group had claimed responsibility for the murders.

In the Sariab Road area of Quetta, two persons were gunned down near a college. SHO Mushtaq Ahmed said they were killed when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on a crockery shop.
