ISLAMABAD:

The Japanese government has agreed to extend a non-project grant aid of 500 million yen (approximately $4.2 million or Rs430 million) for purchasing machinery and equipment for technical education and well-drilling rigs made by Japanese small and medium enterprises.

An agreement to this effect was signed by Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Hiroshi Inomata and Economic Affairs Division Secretary Muhammad Saleem Sethi here on Thursday.

It is expected that the grant will help the provincial governments of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan to procure machinery and equipment for technical education and vocational training centres and well-drilling rigs.

Further details of procurement will be decided by the Japanese and Pakistani officials. The non-project grant aid is a type of grant which supports promotion of socio-economic development efforts of Pakistan.
