Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan has termed unannounced power outages intolerable. According to a handout issued on Thursday, Mehtab said Pesco should improve its own performance and not shift the burden of its inefficiencies on to consumers. “They should ensure unannounced and prolonged load-shedding is avoided during summer, especially Ramazan,” he said.
While chairing a meeting of Pesco’s board of directors, the governor said several power generation projects are under construction and the power crisis will soon end. He said people should not be punished for line losses caused by the inadequate power distribution systems.
Mehtab directed Pesco officials to take action against corrupt employees and address complaints of overbilling. He ordered them to expedite the construction of 38 new grid stations, upgradating of nine stations and the installation of additional power transformers at nine grid stations in the province.
