Tannery Zone gets street lights after 35 years

PTA with help of Korangi Industrial and Trading Estate Limited install street lights.

KARACHI: Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) with the financial help of Korangi Industrial and Trading Estate Limited has finally installed street lights in the Tannery Zone of Korangi Industrial Area.

According to Chairman PTA South Zone, Aziz Ahmed, the project of installation of street lights has been accomplished at the cost of Rs6.5 million. The Tannery Zone in Korangi, which is the largest cluster of tanneries in Pakistan and earning billions of rupees foreign exchange for the national exchequer, has received street lights after over 35 years, he said.

“The Zone is still without water supply line by the Karachi Water Supply Board, no sewerage system and has tarnished road network” he added.

Ahmed lauded  the  efforts  of  the  Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC)  for  providing  a standby-  official  team  to  listen   to  the complaints of the Tannery Zone in Sector 7/A, Korangi for prompt  action on  the  complaints.

He further expressed his gratitude to the KESC for providing mobile service to the zone, particularly to the leather sector, wherein the  processing  and  finishing  work for  exportable  leather  products  is  being  carried out.
