Fixing Responsibility: Verdict reserved in Bhoja Air crash case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday reserved its verdict in the Bhoja Air crash case after all parties concluded their arguments. Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui reserved the verdict for May 27. On April 20, 2012, Bhoja Air flight 213 crashed in the outskirts of Islamabad killing all 127 passengers and crew members onboard. Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had filed an application in the already pending writ petition of Sardar Kainaf Hussain whose son had died in the air crash. In its application, CAA had maintained that Bhoja Air was issued a licence under the relevant laws, after assessing its financial capacity, infrastructure and the crew was well trained. The commission’s observations regarding these aspects were misplaced, the CAA counsel said, adding that bad weather was the cause of the incident.
