Out of the remaining 120 aspirants vying for the title, only Ali Anwar Khan, Aayan Mumtaz and Nauman Haider came safely through the first 18 holes as they are bracketed at a net score of 69, just one stroke behind the three front-runners.
Wasim Rana flourished in the gross section, as he levelled with participants who have the advantage despite him being a zero handicapper. A combination of long drives and crisp approach shots brought him on par.
Meanwhile, Faisal Sayed was disqualified for playing the wrong ball during the course.
