Super8 t20 cup: Malik guides Sialkot Stallions to victory

KARACHI: A captain’s innings by Shoaib Malik guided the former champions Sialkot Stallions to a seven-wicket victory over Peshawar Panthers in the second match of the Cool & Cool Presents Haier Super8 T20 Cup at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Monday. Chasing 167, Stallions lost their opener Mukhtar Ahmed in the second over of their innings but with the help of a brilliant 141-run second wicket partnership between captain Malik and 19-year-old Nauman Anwar Stallions reached their target in 18.1 overs. Man of the match Malik made 95 runs off 49 balls, smashing four boundaries and nine sixes. Anwar scored 64 off 45 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes. Earlier, Panthers scored 166 in their allotted 20 overs with the help of opening partnership of 88 runs between Rafatullah Mohmand and Israrullah contributing 46 and 59 runs, respectively. Umaid Asif took two wickets while Malik, Sultan Ahmed and Usama Mir bagged one each.
