RAWALPINDI: The District Health Department on Monday started a 14-day anti-dengue drive in 15 peri-urban union councils of the district. Deputy District Health Officer Dr Ihsan Ghani said the drive was a joint effort of the district administration, the Rawalpindi Cantt Board and Chaklala Cantt Board. He said areas like Gawalmandi and Saddar, which were earlier not being covered by the department, are now part of the campaign. A total of 65 teams will take part in the two-week campaign in which teams will go door-to-door and check key potential dengue breeding sites in and outside houses. Ghani added the government hospitals have also been directed to set up special dengue information desks to educate and facilitate the public.
