SHABQADAR:

The sixth batch of deradicalised militants was released after a 10-week-long training programme conducted at Pakistan Army Navi Sahar centre, Bajaur Agency. A ceremony was held in this regard in Khar on Monday, according to sources.

Speaking on the occasion, Bajaur Scouts Commandant Colonel Mir Amir Ali said the 29 militants were arrested by security forces after which they were trained in different skills, in order to help their rehabilitation and aid them in shunning their past for good. Bajaur Agency Political Agent Akhundzada Muhammad Yahya and other civil and military officials were also in attendance.

Ali congratulated them on the change of heart and advised them to be careful in future. He said if anyone is found to still have any ties with banned outfits, they will be treated as militants.

Talking to the media, the trainees said they took oath not to take up arms again and offer direct or indirect support to non-state elements.
