Younus up to seventh in Test rankings

Azhar Ali’s double-century also takes him to 16th in the batsmen’s list.

KARACHI: Younus Khan has risen to the seventh spot in the ICC’s Test rankings for batsmen following his 148-run knock in the first innings of the Mirpur Test against Bangladesh.

Younus, who has now featured in 98 Tests for Pakistan, posted his 29th hundred at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium and grabbed the seventh spot in rankings for Test batsmen with 836 points.

Meanwhile Azhar Ali, named the man of the series, climbed to 16th in the rankings with a total of 727 points.

Sarfraz Ahmed also had a successful series with the bat and reached his career-best 22nd spot in the rankings with 673 points.

Among the bowlers, fast-bowler Junaid Khan — who captured five wickets in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh — rose two places and now occupies the 15th spot.

Leg-spinner Yasir Shah also made rapid progress and is now 20th, rising six places.
